The Designer Database
A collection of artwork and biographies for 30 influential figures across the fields of art, architecture, design, film & fashion.
Central to my design process was ensuring that each person’s work is the center of attention, almost like curating a museum in book format. This vision informed every design decision. Each creative was assigned a color (the most dominant color in their work using the eyedropper tool) and was used to color code the page numbers (e.g. Yves Klein’s blue).
Since the book is full of color, I left the cover white. To give a glimpse of the whimsical content, I cut off about an inch of the cover to expose the bottom page which contained a layering of 30 colors for the 30 creatives, with a relief effect of matte and translucent paper.
