Problem Framing
Our challenge was investigating a moving target: AI in Education. We saw universities transforming around us and recognized the need for change.
Universities are already adapting to experiential learning through these novel pedagogical tools. Simulations are one of those powerful learning tools present not just in academic contexts, but in sports, fitness, & even space travel.
User Research
We spoke with professors to understand how AI is reshaping learning and teaching in the classroom.
“The danger is we start confusing fluency for understanding.”
“Writing is thinking. When you hand that over to a model, you’re handing over the learning itself.”
“You cannot learn if you’re not going through the process.”
“AI should act like a mentor, not a shortcut.”
“My job isn’t to be the smartest person in the room; it’s to make the room smarter.”
“When I’m grading written assignments, it feels like I’m grading different versions of ChatGPT.”
Prototype
Our product, Tyro, is an immersive educational tool that simulates real work experiences in the classroom.
Instead of only reading about product management or discussing case studies, students enter a simulated internship here they receive emails, review project context, interact with AI teammates, and make decisions under realistic constraints.
Features
Tyro adapts to both sides of the classroom. One one hand, a tailored onboarding flow for professors. On the other, a guided internship simulation for students.
